Yes indeed, the handle you have is for the smoke grenade I think. It is a good one though.
My M 43model has a smooth plain handle.

I believe the handle is correct. most smoke handles have ridges built into the wood , so you can tell in the dark you have a smoke version.
just a late 44 handle.

the handle is not a handle for a M 39 smoke grenade....personally i don´t like the handle....the can is not the best but an original fcc.....the fuze looks fine also....the string is from the M 24 stick grenade

Hello,

the wooden handle is surely not for the smoke-handgrenade,
that's 100% sure.

The connection thread on top would never fit into the head
of the smoke stick handgrenade.

In fact, it is an M43 wooden handle but unfortunately it is a fake one !

Sold and distributed in the 80s among others also by Joachim Etzel
from Stuttgart etc.

The head looks fine as far as I can see !
