Mauser C96 Carbine

What do you think to this ? I've never seen this done before !! The fixing bracket on the pistol looks to me like a Mauser K98 bayonet fitting ?

Sorry iv'e no idea on bore size or serial number !
Its not mine, it is for sale here in the UK on a Gun traders site.
I have emailed the seller and am awaiting a reply.

I do not have my books at hand, but the serial number dates this gun as made during the 1920s. As far as I remember, Mauser was not doing C96 carbines at this time anymore - most, if not all, were made early in the 1900s. If so, it is an aftermaket product.
