Somebody please provide me with the dealer/seller contact so that I can buy one of those $1000/$1500 G/K43s.

Better yet, if anyone on this forum has a matching decent original G/K-43 that they will sell me for between $1000 and $1500, please send me pics and your paypal address immed. I'll buy it.

Maybe someone who puts them in a safe until the day they die if just collects anything they get their hands on according to their field is a boarder.

Collectors buy just for themselves...hoarders buy as capitalistic opportunists , just to buy up all the cheap deals, so when you NEED SOMETHING , you could likely have found easily if there were less hoarders looking for a better return on their cash than the 1.2% banks pay, and this can be done with G 43 parts...due to increasing demand, and with the limited ammounts of parts available....THEY bone YOU for what you need, if your willing to Pay the price, and know you will spend years hunting for cheap parts that will cost you more hunting money than just buying from the hoarder....as today people tend to get in a hurry, and want everything right now, and the patient buyers do eventually find what they need, the question is just WHEN, and how much will it cost (its called : the thrill of the chase)?

Hopefully finding and reselling some things from sales and gun shows doesn't make me a hoarder! Then again, I like giving deals and use the money on my greedy car and such. There is hope!

hoarders , generally those who buy every one they can find , some fight over the price , most do not. every gun ,no matter the condition. and will buy up every single part they hear about, whether it's usable or not. And they don't need it to fix any item they own.
then there is the guys who buy them , just to rip them apart , Just to sell the parts for top dollar (I know of 2 of them).
a collector wants the best that can be found , maybe many of them, but at least different makers / years.
many hoarders do not sell what they have found either. might have 50 of the same part you need = not for sale.

                  That sounds like an investor.

I'll second that! It's very rare that I post something for sale online, that I don't get at least one insulting offer, or comment! Some are so bad and often, theat I know them by name now!! I usually don't even respond to them now.

I love it when people say, "well I was offered this much by another guy". My response to that is always the same, "well then go back to that guy, and accept his offer!"
I think you did the right thing. I believe this seller was "fishing", not selling.

I took a look to see where Watertown NY was, and guess it is a cold place, unlikely to attract retired folk. So I doubt that there is a large number of older folk selling off their accumulations at less than FMV. Arizona or Florida, on the other hand, probably has much larger concentrations of older folk selling off what we collect. So I am guessing you live in a bad location to collect G43s at below FMV.

I live in an affluent area and I have never seen a minty G/K43 being sold for 1 to 1.5K. I have been collecting G/K43s off and on for 25 years. Only had two for the first 17 years. One was a VoPo and the other was a well sanded, sporterized grip example. Until I bought Hitler's Garands and had a collector look at my accumulation, I didn't even realize what **** I had as G43 examples.

I have added more than 30 G/K43s to my hoard/collection since I got on the internet in 2004. I'd say only about half of them are very nice examples. Only a couple of those 30 were bought for between 1 to 1.5K and they were not minty examples. So I guess my long winded post can be shortened to say the only crack smoker I see is the one expecting an informed owner to sell a minty G43 for 1k.

Good luck hunting for the less than knowledgeable G43 seller.

Totally agree, but there are guys posting here that say they have seen them- so I still have cash in hand if one of those guys wants to sell one theirs maybe? Then they can go to the next show and just replace it!!! Sorry folks, but the days of the $1500 G/K-43 is long gone. Still........... waiting.......... though!

Watertown is quite unique actually. The town is very old and was the richest town per capita in the US prior to WWII. After the second world war, the town saw tough times and never recovered. Ft. Drum helps the community survive...plain and simple. However, with that being said, there is a TON of nostalgia here. I have received a ton of good items in the past couple of months to include a vet captured Sauer and Sohn Model 1913 with holster and mags from WWI, an M35 Luft DD from Monte Cassino, an 1889 Curiasser Pickelhaube, and more. I just picked up an M1 Garand bayonet and just received an email about someone that has a Nazi flag that was his uncles! I had a tank destruction badge in gold that slipped through my fingers because the guy knew what it was worth and I didn't want to pay retail for it.

I guess the point of my ramblings are that I believe that this place is the perfect storm to produce a high quality weapon for a decent price. If you knew what I paid for all of my other items, you'd call the cops on me! And no, I didn't rip off anyone; much less veteran widows...just got a good, competitive price!

I am waiting as well. Mint matching ones brought $1000+ back in the '90s.

There are plenty of clunkers sitting around at shows which will never sell, yet mint ones bringing $3000+ are gone in a flash. The market decides the price, like most things in life.

I have not seen a matching excellent one sell for less than 2500-3500 in the last 4 or 5 years. I will take all you have for 1000K
