Hi Jacob
from photographic evidence it seems the Mg13 saw wide spread use in the early part of the war and 80% of the photos to support this show waffen ss troops armed with this mg. Also I think by the amount of photos taken during the invasion of the low countrys and France showing troops armed not only with the mg 13 but also the zb26 czech not to mention large amounts of mg08s shows that the mg 34 was still not available in numbers large enough to replace the earlier mgs.

Heres another picture from signal showing an infantry man during the opening stages of the invasion of the USSR using the Mg13 in frontline use as late as 41 . As far as late war use is concerned most of the books I have read note that the weapon saw use with second line formations until 1945 .
