LP42 tested again on New Year eve

    Hello all,

    Happy New Year.

Had some fun again this year shooting surplus signals with two LP42.

Loud bangs, three red stars, bright green lone star,...

Will buy cartridges again for next year !

I also use one of my LP42 this new year nignt. I'm afraid to use my Walther flare guns, they looks very delicate, try to keep them in original condition, but LP42 is another case - looks that you could use it as a hammer, and nothing will happened with it
when everyone use fireworks celebrating new year, nobody will notise that you using flare gun
But when you shoot parashute ligthing cartridge, all forgot about their own fireworks, and look only on it , it looks great
I use soviet cartriges, this new year i use lighting cartridges (parashute and without it), 3 yellow stars, yellow, green, red lone stars. They cost here in Ukraine about 2,5 - 4 dollars per each

I use LP42, Alu LP34 (Walther) and an old Hebel from the first WW every new year. I must say I like the Hebel most, heavy in the hand and very solid feeling. I shoot one star, 3 star and the big cech Flashbang military cartridge...they are VERY loud and bright and kick lile a donkey ;-)
I would shoot any german old flare gun if needed, exept the double barrel ModL for the Luftwaffe as they had a weak point in the locking mechanism. This often broke. I have some flare guns to shoot and others that are too nice to shoot, but mechanically I would have no doubt about safety or else....

This weekend I will shoot some original WW2 german red smoke cartridges....some new experience for me as well ;-)

I last used one on the 4th of July. I use either the East German or Czech rounds. Plenty of Czech rounds are available at US shows. They run about $35 per 10; quite a few types of rounds can be found. Have never used original WWII rounds. Too valuable.

I tried last weekend to fire some original german WW2 rounds....red smoke, in good condition. None of them actually fired, I had to empty them by hand as I sold the empty shells and this was a perfect opportunity to fire some originals. Didn´t work though......but still, thrilling moments ;-)
