        Lots of luftwaffe pilots carried these, and even politzei(some are polizei marked). I have had a few, and if you didn't want to leave it cocked, for sure you don't want to cock the side switch much with these, as they tend to wear too much, and can become troublesome. I used the switch to slowly release the firing pin when i didnt want it to be cocked, but being double action you can pull the trigger, and not have to have it cocked.
        The Sauer company was trying to corner the pocket pistol business when they came out with the 38H, and even with the extra safety features , they lost the contract, likely due to the side cocking mechanism not being beefy enough. But they are interesting, and later at the end of the production run you can find them without the cocking release side mechanism. Just too bad they didnt make it in .380.
        Thats a nice find, and they are getting more expensive as time goes on. Be sure when you buy one, to be sure it isn't a reblue, as reblues are only worth half what an original is worth, and without a holster, that also detracts from the value. Still a good carry gun if you have one that's not in minty condition, as a nice one like this I wouldn't carry , so you dont wear the bluing down.Or is this a dewat(non firable??) Where i live i can carry or shoot one any time i want, but in many european countries, they have taken your rights away, and that just sucks. That means you need to come over here US and shoot the real deals.

          Hi Juoneen, Yes unfortunately the Sauer is Deactivated I am hoping one day to make a trip To the US and have a range shooting holiday
          I admire the technology built into these pistols, I suppose at the time the military were not ready for it and just wanted a cheaper tried and tested style of pistol ? ( Who Knows for sure , I bet there must have been a lot of backscratching/backhanders going on at the time to secure contracts!)

            De cocking lever

            I had one just like that, used to fire it regularly. Great pistol but the De-cocking system is flakey and became faulty after a time, the little wire spring just isn't up to it.
            Unfortunately, before I could sort the problem, the firearms law was changed and I had to surrender it.
