    Sauer & Sohn Model 1913 - WWI

Hey guys, I have a WWI Sauer & Sohn Model 1913 that is a serial number 18,943. I have the original holster and 2 original magazines. The gun is 90%+ condition and the holster is probably 60-70% condition (rough, but all there). It does not have any of the crown Qs but it has the crown Ns. The gun is all matching. I bought this from the WWI vet's estate (from his grandson who acquired it in 1978). The story was that the vet acquired it "in France off of a dead German officer." I paid $150 for all of it. I know that a perfect shape one with holster goes for about $450, but have only seen high serial numbers. I was curious what the lower serial numbers go for?

Very nice gun and set for a fair price. The gun seems a commercial to me as it lacks military proof marks, though it could have been privately purchased and carried in the war.

There is a commercial "first series" version that has an extra safety. It is only serial numbers 1 to something like 4750. That would be the only low serial number that would add anything appreciable to the value as far as I know.

Very nice... A pistol I once owned... sold... and can never buy again. I'm refering to the classification system that the Liberal government in Canada instituted... I'm licensed to own pistols but when I sold my .32 cal 1913 Sauer and didn't have any other .25 or .32 cal pistols or a pistol with a barrel length of 4 Inches or less at that time and the goverment revoked my prohibited status... if you don't understand the rules don't play the game i guess... We are all hoping that with a change in Goverment to the Conservative Party that the long gun registration will be junked and that these ridiculous classifications will go with it...

Now that my rant is over ... you have an excellent pistol and I'm very jealous... Jim
