Nice Beretta, it has the Brescia proof house with the royal crown also if at that time Northern Italy was a republic.

        Bill,
IMO The slide appears to be refinished or buffed. 1944 would be a dull almost rough finish. Not knocking your pistol, just pointing out what the original finish should be?

Ok, I was wrong! I have the same pistol in the 567xxx range and It's a dusty blue military flat finish. But after a little research I see some in the earlier range that are high polished.

        Spoke to soon. Sorry.

All these i have seen as 44 dated always have a very rough finish , as they were rough machined to save time , and not finished like this one IMO...id say its a reblued gun.

Yes, Repubblica Sociale Italiana = Italian Socialist Republic, but the stamps were still the old ones.

Not refinished this early model 44 was high pollish blue.. I also have the dull park versions in the 600,000 range this is a real early 500,000 range and many are known with the high polish from early 44....BILL

                We know that:

                on sept. '43 the s/n was 504.xxx,
                on march '44 was 509.xxx,
                on june '44 525.xxx,
                on august '44 534.xxx,
                on february '45 599.xxx
and last wartime was about 616.000.

On wath range is your Beretta?

So it was produced between March and June '44.

At that time the finish was still good.
