I know that's a tool for the MG's Kit, but what the use? Is it WWII original?

Hello,

That tool is used to adjust screws, nuts and the strenght of the shock absorber (if not mistaken) of the Lafette. Your's is post war made, as the long number stamped on it is a NATO code, I believe.

OK, thanks, it's the Lafette's tool.
I put the number in google and I found a lot of pics of the MG tools kit with WaA and this little tool, with exactly the same number.
It means it's possible that's WWII original!!
Another opinion?

No, tools with this kind of long number are post war produced. WWII produced would only have the 11-13 and maker's code + WaA. I would say this one is from Norway, as it's been the main source of MG34 tools lately.

You asked what it was and I have told you. It is up to you if you want to think it is a WWII item. Once again: It is post war produced copy of a WWII item. It is scarce and most of the ones you might find in the marked with that stamp are not original.

MG Lafette wrench

I'll post photos of mine if I get the chance...Carles is correct, postwar....remember lots of postwar use in Norway of German weapons, also on a sidenote many items also come out of Yugoslavia....the M53 (MG42) was produced postwar in Yugoslavia along with accessories, they are frequently passed off as WW2 German items to the unsuspecting. Same thing happens with Norwegian items, etc. Chris...

So just a dumb question. How do you know that something completely covered in rust is original?

I bought about 6 kg of rusted parts a couple of years ago. They were so deadly rusted and so cheap that for sure it was just battlefield scrap. Some couldn't be identified but many other were, among them the 11-13 wrenches. Perhaps an armourer's depot. There were many pioneer's tools also.

I cleaned some and sold others. Some maker stamps and logos appeared on some of them, so I have no doubt they are original.
