    Mauser ID help please

    Hello all,

I know very little about firearms so your help is needed. My friend has a mauser he wants to sell but I need to know what type of mauser it is and who made it (basically, anything, anyone can tell me about this rifle!)

I can take photos but I am not a full member so I cannot post photos unless someone is willing to help me out!?

    Anyway,

The rifle has the numbers 2481 on the left side of the reciever,on the bolt, and on the plate underneath.

on the stock by the trigger guard is a large "P" stamp

on the bottom rear of the stock is a small stamp that looks like crossed cannons!? and to the back of the stock (bottom) is a stamp that has what appears to be four diamonds!?

This four diamond stamp appears on several locations of the rifle.

On the top of the stock is a #2 stamp, further back is another crossed cannon stamp, further back still near the butt plate is stamped #53.

Strangly, this rifle has extra sling swivels!? one underneath (front/back) and one on the side (front/back.

Where the bayonet goes it looks like it has two slots for the bayonet!?

    I hope this info helps!?

I would appreciate anything anyone can tell me about this rifle. My friend is selling it for $100 is that a fair price? It is in very good condition.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Dave

      Mauser

Is there a crest on top of the reciever, and the cross items on the stock are most likely a cross dagger and axe/bundle of sticks which is the Spanish Falangist Crest..wfg

Thanks guys for helping me out!

There is no crest on the reciever in fact there is nothing there. The diamond shapes I spoke of look more like the shape of an iron cross.

If it is spanish, is $100 fair?

        thanks

              mauser

              Hello,

Something else I noticed is the stock has groves in the front for your thumb and fingers for gripping.

So is the jury still out or does it indeed sound like its a spanish mauser?

Is there any website that shows photos of the differant mausers out there?

              Dave
