How to ship a flare gun?

I have a couple of flare guns I was thinking of selling but not sure how to ship.
Long arms are easy and can go thru USPS, UPS, Fedex cheaply and I have sold a few pistols on gunbroker that I shipped overnight with UPS. This is a little expensive for a flare gun, it appears that USPS treats them like regular handguns. Any thoughts? Appreciate the help,

    Brian

      Usps

Why UPS? Just go through USPS, much cheaper.
Its not a gun. Its a signal flare gun Put it in a flat rate box and insure it.

Bill, I just got off the phone with UPS and they say it is treated the same as a regular firearm and has to go overnight. ($75-80). I agree USPS would be cheaper but it appears by their regs also they are treated like a weapon of mass destruction. I remember everybody was selling them on Ebay years ago and I am sure they were shipped USPS, not sure if the regulations have changed. I know other sell them on the forum, not sure what they are doing.

You may tell it's a signaling system... which is not a lie, isn't ?

That is true, I am just trying to avoid a nice pair of shiney silver braclets! Maybe I am just being paranoid but over a decade of collecting German militaria has made me that way.

Like you I tend to err on the side of caution but the Post Office was not concerned about it when I asked.
