On the rifle shown by RonR as well as the one I show, both have the takedown feature which was a special order option. On the early rifles it was common to get a little better grade of wood when any special order feature was ordered. Winchester would use wood that didn't quite make fancy grade, but was better than standard grade.
The rifle I show was early enough that the butt plate was color casehardened rather than just being blued.
