    MG34 drums with carrier.

    Hello all.

I would like your opinion about this MG34 drums with carrier! Looks like the original Normandy 3 tone camo sprayed on the carrier that first it was yellow. Spray painted with bright green, reddish brown.
The drums i think in my opinion are original sand yellow. Perhaps used by the Afrika Korps, and later used in Normandy. Carrier is marked with WA 41, there is a lot of rust in some places, pitting in the carrier, but (NOT) rust under the camo layers,
Sorry for the bad pictures, i can only make photos with my iphone some pictures are in hddr and some in normal coller.

Aren't the drums stamped? They look original. The carrier also looks original but I haven't seen that kind of cammo on carriers. Is the date 41 or 44? What are the brown stains? rust or grease?

all looks original to me , paint ect. the drums most likely a marriage to the carrier....
drums would be painted the same colors.
I have a terrible photo in a book of a para unit that painted up their m.g (thought it was a 34) in a camo paint job also.
wish the photo was better / in color.
            Photos look good also.
nice set to have, getting harder to find.
thank you for showing us .

Here are some pictures of the codes at the drums, Wc 43 and Wa 42 also at picture 5 i think there is a eagle with WaA under the camo layer what i can see the contours of the left wing of the swastika eagle with WaA.
What I've circled in red the brown stains, that is no rust or grease, it's in the paint.
The carrier itself is marked WA 41

The sand color was first factory used in 1943 and underneath the sand color was no red color. All drums had the arrow inside white colored, so if the arrow is painted like the rest of the drum, then it was definitely repainted. Very often earlier drums were overpainted with sand color but the origin paint was not removed before.

If your set is from a well known German dealer, then I´m to 99,9% sure that it was renewed...

And here´s a picture of an overpainted drum. You can see the origin green color and the sand color.

with other words the coller of my drums is not original but fake? I think at te Wa42 there is another paint under the sand yellow a darker paint then red and then the yellow coller.
By the wc43 on the sides of the drum there is no red paint found not even the wa42 drum. It is only the bottem and the top of the drums??

Yes, I think so. Are the arrows inside white or in drum color?

Definitely a new work. And from the dealer you have told me it´s definitely a fake. He also faked a lot of MG42...
