    The strange extra strap over the stripping tool pouch. To the left is the short tubular pouch. Cleaning rod of some sort? Judging by the exterior stitching there is little doubt this is a post manufacture addition.

      I wonder if anyone can identify any of the numerous markings on this 1911 dated PO8 Holster. The regimental markings are of particular interest to me. The initials J.W.G and 116 appear on the outside of the holster. There is a very unusual arrangement on the the inside of the flap, perhaps for a cleaning rod? Any history on the regiment itself and the purpose of the leather strap and pocket ,would also be greatly appreciated. Regards, Simon

        The unit mark is for Field Artillery Regiment 11. The strap on the inside of the lid is a late Reichswehr or early nazi era modification intended to accomodate a cleaning rod.
