    ZF4 dow original?

I have doubts about its originality ... Any thoughts?
    Thanks,

In my humble opinion: It is not an original ZF4.
The font on the stampings are wrong and the elevation turret is not quite right.
There are loads of modern copies of the ZF4 and ZF41 out there at the moment. Buyer beware!

It IS original. It was once in my collection. I sold it I think on ebay after I made pics of it. I have it from the US: Buyer obviously took dustcap off and sells it now separately. That is why I hate to sell items. Everytime a piece of history gets lost. Thanks God I made pics for my book before selling.

There are not that many fake ZF4 around. Prices do not permit it.

Plenty of fake ZF4 and ZF41 scopes about. Here for example:

Thank you for posting the link to Numrich - I would never have thought they had those, I was trying to find one.
Nice scope in the first pic, it would still look great on a collectable.

These Numrich scopes are repro and can be easily recognized as such. A FAKE is a scope which is deliberately made up to look original.

              A bit more info here:

              http://www.haakons.com/vaapen/k43/zf4/fakescope.htm

Note the picture and description of the fake ZF4 scope at the bottom.

As to the OP's scope being original or not I merely offered a humble opinion. It is often very hard to tell from pictures alone.

                      I agree.

Thanks for posting the Numrich link. Original zf4 scopes are not rare or that expensive, so I was surprised to see repros being made.

I also agree that the one in question on this thread is an original.

not commenting on the one shown .
But fakes have been made for a while. Yes I mean post war Cezch made , markings scrubbed off , and new ones added. examples have been spotted on this forum & others, And shown in a few books.
generally , the added markings do look terrible. but, as we all know, if a few dollars can be made off some one ,it will.
