I have the opportunity to buy K98 s/42 from 1936. waa all stamps are available, all serial numbers. All numbers are equal and all waa stamps are available. wAa63. Only I have a question about the serial, this is 6605, whereas reference books indicate that the highest serial number 6392z. How can and who can give me information?

Didn't you ask this same question yesterday?

Do you have the book "Backbone of the Wehrmacht" by Richard D. Law, published by Collector Grade Publications? If not, I think you will enjoy the book and the information it provide about rifles such as yours.

The serial number question had been ask and answered previously. Specifically, what other information are you seeking? I'll bet your questions can be answered as soon as we know what they are.

I suspect we have a language problem here. As Johnny stated yesterday, production serial numbers started with 1 - 9,999 and then started over with 1a - 9,999a, 1b - 9,999b and so forth. Your rifle 6605, is in the first serial run while the highest reported number of 6392z is approximately 270,000 afterward.
Is it WWII?-Yes! Is it original?-Without many excellent photographs, we cannot answer that question.

The serial number of your rifle is 6605b, and as explained by dag001 would put it almost 27,000 into 1936 production. Appears to be all matching, and a nice rifle.
