What is a G33/40 worth?

Received a phone call last night from a fellow collector friend. He says he picked up a near mint G33/40 marked dot 1941. He says it's complete with cleaning rod, front sight protector, NO mention of sling. Knowing my friend, it's gonna be in the $2000 range at least. What's a realistic value for one.

I would say, $1500-$1600 for the item you just described. I just sold one exactly as you described for that price!
