    Unusual Akah Luger holster

Here is an unusual Luger holster I'm hoping you guys can help me with. Nice Akah stamping on back, but no year. Holster was converted from standard buckle and strap to what you see here, based on the empty thread holes with the buckle used to be. Then there is the H.P.313 under the flap. Watchu think?

Still identifies the H.P. as Senior Police School.

One of the early conversions for the Weimar era Hesse Polizei. These are discussed in Maus's History Writ in Steel. Numbers are recorded on pistols and holsters up tto mid-three digits. I believe "HP." or "H.Ps." are the Prussian markings for Hohere Polizeischule.

These probably were purchased as commercial holsters in late 1929 or early 1930 to equip the newly enlarged Schutzpolizei of Hessen when the French occupation forces withdrew in June 1930 (HWIS pp. 258-263). Most of them were used with BKIW/DWM Lugers manufactured in late 1929 and issued to the Hessische Polizei. It's not clear whether they were converted to police-style closures right away or sometime later.
