Some flare rounds

Hi to all!

I just found this lot of flare-rounds.

I have some questions about them:
- How do I preserve them best (I've seen some burst open...)?
- Are there any rare ones between them?
- What is there value (I'm not selling them, just want to know)

Hi,
It doesn't seem that there is some very rare flare cartridges.
Concerning your questions:

- How do I preserve them best (I've seen some burst open...)?
> It depends from the law in your country. I've never seen or hear about a cartridge which burst because it's opened !!! But leave them far from possible fire and don't let children play with it.
Be careful with the all grey one. It's an Alarmshusspatrone. It isn't fired with a pistol but it generates a big fire ... so don't try to shoot it.

- Are there any rare ones between them?

> Not specially but maybe some flare cartridges collectors like such or such manufacturers.... The one with the grey card box is a little bit more 'rare'.

- What is there value (I'm not selling them, just want to know)

> Depending from countries, it varies from 5 to 20 € (sometimes a little bit more)

Hello Brecht,

1) preserve them from moisture. The compounds inside will expand when wet and crack open the alu case.
2) I guess they are all complete (no emptied alu cases), so I would say the value is more like 20 euros min for the common ones.

Yes they are complete and not emtied, stil with the colour on top.

And with 'burst open' I mean not when emptied but just complete ones who crack. But now I hear its form moisture! Thanks!!

In what case did soldiers use an 'Alarmshusspatrone' ?

The Alarmschusspatrone was not fired from a flare gun (quite dangerous), but used with a trip wire device. Bruno has a drawing and items on his Web Site I think. This is, in my eyes, the rarest of the lot.

Guys, I would be really interested in know where you buy your flares so cheap and so easy.... in the box there are a few not easy to find.

I would not empty it

Sure, it is not a problem to have it. I have two in my collection and sold few others. Flares are not dangerous if they are well stored and preserved.
