Hi Reg,

What I see is called a "waffenamt". It means weapon's office. It was either an eagle over a number or an eagle over WaA and then a number. It was an inspection stamp that was applied by an inspector in the plant to approve an item for use by the military. Germany was broken up into waffenamt districts and each had a number or numbers. You find that mark on most all German military guns and equipment until very late in the war.
