    K98 bullets ?

    Hello all,

I got these in a group, and I don't need them. Can anyone tell me if it is legal to sell these in the US and if you can ship them? About what are these worth and would I post them on the e-stand?

Sorry, I am a complete novice when it comes to firearms/rounds.

      Hello again,

I also have these, but I would assume they are Korean war era, correct?

Anyone know what the belt buckle is off the top of their head?

The 8mm rounds are all mismatched and don't match the box label. Very little value. A matched box sells for $10-15.

Yes, the .30 cal ammo is for a M1 Carbine and would be late Korean War vintage.

They are legal to sell unless local laws forbid it.

They can be shipped but the USPS will not take them. UPS & FedEx will take them but only by ground and they have to have a special label.

I believe you can find the label on the UPS web site or, if you can't find it, email me at leon.despain AT verizon.net and I will email you a JPG of the label.

            Regards, Leon

The belt buckle appears to be off of a Sam Browne Belt but I cannot say what vintage.

The carbine ammo is US Lake City as denoted by the stamp, expect to get about 50 cents per round or so. WW2 is much more collectible though.

Sure, if you are buying commercial ammo at WalMart. But corrosive surplus 8mm at any large gun show is $3 to $5 a box. The WWII German stuff only has value when it is all matched. This is not really a secret...

In fact, for years you could buy a sleeve of 300 German WWII 8mm rounds in 20 15-round boxes, for about $60. Basic "SmE" loads for the most part though. "SmK", "SmK l'Spur", etc were more expensive ("PmK" and "B-Patrone" were pretty pricey), but you can still find plenty of 15-round boxes for around $15 at most shows.

                          .30 Carbine Ammo *Warning*

Although the ammo in the box is clearly US made, the Chinese copied .30 Carbine ammo down to th headstamp after Korea to feed all of the WWII carbines leftover in addition to those acquired in Korea. It is as corrosive as your mother-in-law's opinion of your manhood, but it looks like very innocent non-corrosive US .30 Carbine. If you have any loose .30 Carbine headstamped LC 50 - LC 53, don't use it unless A) you are very sure of its source, or B) you clean to corrosive ammo standards after you shoot. I hope this helps. I have seen this stuff in the original box, and it has Chinese characters on the box, but looks like Lake City made .30 Carbine when you break it out.
