P38 for review and value estimation? 1 out of 2

    Dear collectors,

Can you please look at the following P38 and give me your feedback on the gun as well as value estimation? A buddy of mine picked them up but not sure if he paid too much . This is 1 out of 2. The second one will follow soon

    P38 AC42
    • matching numbers throughout
      unmolested condition
seems to be "really" used and not been reblued

From what I can see, I see no red flags. That code & date is more desirable than the later ones I do believe.
I haven't kept up on P-38 prices but the last time I looked this one would be in the $700-$800 range but that was a while back. I am sure prices have gone up since then.

I agree with Denny here. Condition looks good, and from what I can see, I don't see any problems. As long as you are certain it is 100% matching, non-import, I'd agree with the price range.

7-800 is fair...prices in a recession are what the market will bear.

The 7-800 number is correct.. The problem today is almost no one has cash to throw around.. I would say if you needed to sell it asap $500-550 would do it over night..

Thank you all for your feedback! It is a correct matching NON import version as we are located in Europe directly from the German market.

Good to know that he has paid was a good price then

Also the AC42 is more appreciated then a AC43 or 44?

            Cheers

              Hello collectors

is a AC41 or AC42 more "harder" to get then an AC43 or 44?

              cheers

Your ac 41 (if early high polish up to around "g" block) is much more desirable and the price goes up to $1000 if all matching and original good condition. One matching mag will add to that value by at least $200. Two...?

Also note ac 41 with a "ac" marked on the trigger guard (up to about mid "b" block) is also a extra plus!

Your earlier pistols (many going to the Russian front) will be harder to find than the latter more common ac 44

                Hope this helps!

                  Hello Bob (Nomadr),

Thank you for your info! This P38 is an AC42 with "f" code so somewhere mid 1942, but matching all over and it is in a "used" condition.

My friend will get the gun next week directly from the "Heimat" Germany and we will check it and make more detailed pics!

I think it's fair to say that you cant really compare going prices in the firearms market between countries unless they have a similar flow of firearms and ease of purchase.

I'm sure the rate for a deac P38 in the UK is much different than a piece at a US gunshow etc - FX rates aside.

Yours does look like a very nice piece!
