Picked this up last night. The more ive looked, the more questions I have. Can anyone help with the markings on the stock? Is it laminate? Stock does seem to have a hairline crack, but I dont think its serious. Does everything look like it should? to me the where the bayonet lug looks different than other examples. Also, the butt plate doesnt seem to be marked. Everything that is marked matches. the only thing I could see that doesnt match is the bolt.

I suspect that the stock bears a different number on the inside barrel channel and is not from this rifle but rather off of one of the imports from the last 20 years...the stock itself may be an import from Europe as many came in as just wood sets. Same applies to the handguard, both bands and hardware on the wood front end and back.
The mismatched bolt was probably a result of the capture/surrender or transport back to the states after WWII. The barreled receiver and the triggerguard/magazine assembly are orginal to that receiver.
The rifle is generally correct, but there are some details that with the bands and the wood that I would consider not indicative of Mauser during that time frame. The stock is the laminated type.
Just saw your last question....stock does look like a Yugo rework to my knowledge....so recent import origin on the wood.....

I have several stock and bands sets like were used to re-militarize this rifle. I obtained my stock/bands sets @ $35 from SARCO about 20 years ago and have used them over the years to do the same thing: re-militarize what are otherwise nice 98k's that had been ruined via "sporterizing".
I believe that the stocks and bands are all WWII German issue, but were re-used by Yugoslavia in the post-war period.
