I had my Captian at work point me at this one. It was at the bottom shelf at a hole in the wall gun range in the city I work in. I have no back story on it. Only story that goes along with this one is how it was well hidden at this shop and I got it for a steal. Pictures should do the rest of the talking. Nice complete rig just like I like to buy.

I love cyq's and step-children... They do not always look the best, but you will find they work as good as any of the nicer finished ones. They have a story all of their own.
This one is a particularly good example... Probably made in May of 1944, according to the charts on the P 38 forum.
Congratulations, and thanks for showing, Sir !! Good Job!!

                Nice one!
CYQ indeed made the roughest P38's, but as said, they will function as good as others do!

Thank you guys, I still have yet to find one of these direct from the vet. Due to my age most of these pistols I think were sold to collectors and friends many years before I was born. Finds like this is the best I can hope for. I do know of one BYF 41 Luger with holster and 2x matching numbers magazines but the son of the vet will not part with it. Maybe one day though...

A locomotive company that switched to making weapons and it shows in the machining work, still a nice P-38 though and that holsters not too bad either.

Locomotive company? Oh no! Spreewerk was newly established to produce weapons. The factory was placed in Hradek nad Nisou, (in prewar times and now again) in Czech republic. The pistols were made by (mostly) unskilled forced labors from the whole Europe.
