            Hi,
            thanks for this answer.
            I don't find anything for the second cartridge of 1940. What means "Z"??
            Regards, Jeremy

              Z marking.

              Hi,on your picture it looks like.
              S= steel.
              V 11 = Bochum (bxe).
              13= lot number.
              Z= Zunder?
              Don't quote me on the above as I'm no expert. Lots of info on the Bodemvondston forum.

                I find the solution for copper case:

                VII: Bochumer Verein für Gußstahlfabrikation A.G., Bochum (code bxe): steel maker.
                Z: Kupferwerk Ilsenburg A.G., Ilsenburg, Harz: metal processing
                13: type of metal
                S: Schwer (heavy bullet)

                I have another case with a total black primer and a 5mm green stripe on it and acrosse the bottom of the case. Somebody knows what kind of ammo it is?
                Best regards and thanks for your help.

                  I would say your second round is Czech:
                  Z= Brno plant.
                  19 - 38?= the year (pic us blurred can't see it well)
                  VII= July

                  Many of these can be found in Spain, from the 'Spanish Civil War'

                    Green stripe across the base sounds like a test round.

                      You are right for the number: 1940, it's the date but VII is not the month it's the code for the steel maker and Z is the code for the metal processing factory, no bound with CZ.
                      Regards.

                        The green stripe on the case is the designation for aluminum core practice ball. They can also be found as tracers.

                          I think Carles is correct. Your headstamp is very similar to this.

                          Besides, isn't the cartridge case made of brass? If so, there is no steel maker.
