MG34 50 round drum mags in carrier

Picked these up yesterday afternoon, both drums still have the ammo in them on belts with tabs, one drum has ball ammo the other is black tipped armor piercing, the cool thing is the carreir, never seen one like this and everything is luft grey. Could this have come out of an airplane?

interesting to see it loaded with ammo still.
Do you mind mentioning the dates = drum & carrier ?
all services were issued these for their m.g. 34s & 42s.
This carrier was not typically used in planes. most of the planes had a non removable carrier mounted around the gun (s). plus most planes Did not use either the mg 34 or 42.
Most carried m.g. 15s , or a variation of that weapon.

plus the color may be the basic "gray" used on most early war equipment. later a yellow/ tan color more common But, green colors also existed.
regardless.... this looks like a very nice set. looks like it came just out of the field , into your hands.

They did not use the MG34 much in planes. More likely from ground units. Color is hard to tell from pictures but it could be standard early style gray... or maybe part of Luft ground units?

Standard infantry carrier. Also typically fitted on spring mounted brackets inside vehicles with a mounted MG. Here is a photo of one fitted inside my schwimmwagen. The schwimm has 2 fixing brackets, one under the MG mount (shown here) and an identical one on the opposite side next to the driver's left knee.

                      Dougieboy1, real nice swimmer....
found one a few years back , owner riding around town with it .
all messed up & it was NOT for sale.
in Oregon there is one at the bottom of a lake. "thanks loggers".
