I don't care for the paint job. looks repainted / aged . going for to much money, in my opinion.

Stampings look a bit iffy,looks like it had the usual plate that was held in place with the four rivets,the holes are still visible,bcd = Gustloff-Werke who used to make small arms according to my book. bcd not mentioned in the Myrvang as a lafette producer. Regards David.

fake MG42 tripod on ebay: 270794948468

In my opinion this tripod is a total fake

There were 2 different MG53 tripods: The more common type without the optic attachment and the not so common type with optic attachment.

This tripod on ebay is a postwar Yugo tripod with optic attachment which was totally overworked. The faker did a good paint job, but the code isn´t really good for a MG42 tripod

As David said you can see the 4 holes for the Yugo factory plate

heres another one i just found, made in Czechoslovakia in 1943 - LOL, i guess the range plate kinda gives it away, deffinatly czech....

Faking Paint and welding...

On the "1944 BCD 42 Lafette" on ebay, yes you can see the holes where the Yugo plate was installed have been filled by welding or some other means.

As well, if you really study the paint work, the top coat which has "worn off" revealing the grey below is totally randon, it is not worn in areas where one would suspect normal wear from handling to occur.

A little scrape here, a little rub there .... Meraviglioso un altro capolavoro!

The work that was done to the tripod really isn't all that good when you think about it and I feel sorry for the person who is going to pay a crazy amount for it.
