    Luger Value

I have come across a 1937 S/42 luger rig. It is an 90% blue totally matching with 2 matching numbered magizens and a 1936 dated brown holster.
This is a vet bringback and he has decided its time to let it go. I have seen a ton of lugers over the years, but this is the first time I have run across one of these.
Could someone give me a ballpark figure on it? I have a blue book and its a good guild, but this is something you don't see very often.
    Thanks in Advance

Odel..IF the pistol is exactly as you discribe it has many variables still... such as are the small parts blued or strawed? The thing that puts a pistol like this in a seperate catagory is the 2 matching magazines. Stories are rampant about fakes ...but if you are certain the Vet is legit..and the pistol is what you believe it to be... it could be in the $3000-4000 range. I stress COULD because one little fault could drop such an estimate dramatically. The 2 matching mags will overcome a small fault but it would be wise to have someone who knows what to look for go over the pistol thouroughly.
I must assume you are looking to purchase it? It will help you to know as much as you can about the rig..then you can make an intelligent offer.

Thank You. The small parts are strawed colored. I saw this about a year ago and the person called me this week. I'm going to look at it this weekend.

      Thanks Again

I would like to stress what Jerry posted above. Luger collectors are among the most finiky in the firearms collecting hobby and their standards are high. If you have any doubts about the originality of this piece post detailed pictures here or,best yet, find someone qualified to look it over for you.

          Hi Odell,

I think Jerry's correct, and collectors might pay this much based on your description. You mentioned it's 90%, which is a borderline in terms of what you can ask...if it's actually more like 85%, it could significantly drop. The condition of the holster will affect value as well, either up or down. Are the magazines in commensurate condition?

          Good luck with your purchase.

          Best regards,

          Jason
