Source fo Springfield 1903 rifle sling?

I'm not a firearms collector, but have a German friend who is looking for either a genuine or nice repro sling for a Model 1903 Springfield rifle he bought. Can any of you suggest a reputable dealer from whcih I might buy one for my friend? If a period sling, I would want one in excellent condition.

    Thanks for any information!

Go pick up a copy of Shotgun News at the newsstand, there are several dealers offering reproduction slings. Get the leather one with the brass furniture.

nice original slings are getting hard to find, and also pricey depending on the type, and version you need it for. Tell him to expect to pay for one if he can even find it. All the ones on the 03's i have i am happy to have attached to the guns when i bought em. Although.....every once in a while the blind sow finds an acorn, as hope springs eternal. Good luck to your german friends hunt , but i think he already knows this already. He may get lucky.

There were some earlier slings used on the 1903, but the one common to virtually all 1903's is the Model 1907. The earlier slings were a variation of the earlier Trapdoor and Krag slings.

I have a great repro sling I'd part with if you're interested.

            Thanks!

Thanks Gents. This is all most helpful information. I did not know these were that scarce. It's a deactivated 1903 that he has and would likely be fine with a nice reproduction.

Amason - I'm interested. Can you send photos? shawnsouthern@verizon.net

            Thanks again to all!

            Best Regards,

            Shawn
