    What is this mag for???

    Hello. I just came across this in a US vets stuff. It has what look like a stylized "eagles head" with a x31 under it on one side and the same eagles head with an x32 on the other side (pictured, kinda blurry, sorry). the top has a cover that slides right off...and the follower/spring will come out. Obviously, this looks like it fits on the rifle and not easy to remove, more like a part of the rifle....but which one? It is very heavy and well made.

    Interesting item. These are supposed to be 25 round magazines for the Springfield M1903 "Air Service" rifle. They are kinda rare.
