    1944 ac Walther P-38 question

This gun has the "plum and blue" two-tone and red bake-lite grips, proof marks all over it including 359 over the eagle. I have pictures I will gladly e-mail. All numbers match , ending with "h". Can anyone give me an idea of the vaule and history of this gun? Finish is probably about 90-95%. In fact it looks very much like pics posted by Matt of the p-38 he recently purchased if that helps. I don't know where to turn. I have been made several offers on the gun but the large difference in size of offers has cautioned me in accepting one w/out finding out just what I have.

Here are prices from an auction that were listed on the p-38 site.
Many believe they are very high, but?

      P38

      Hi,
      Welcome to the forum!

I also have one P38 very close to yours (see: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ht=Walther+P38 )

If you want, send your pictures to my e-mail (check your PM box), that I´ll post them to you. I always like to see a Walther!

      Regards,

      Douglas.

Not having seen your P38, I can only give a ballpark figure. Assuming that it is all matching, non-import, bore is excellent, and finish is 95% as you say, then value would be between $450-$550.

Thank you all so much I appreciate the information. Can anyone by chance identify "WaA706" for me? This is stamped on the holster.

According to Bender's book the WaA706 waffenamt was used in 4 different holster plants. cea (Heinrich Thiele), gxy (Gebruder Klinge), joa (Dresdner Koffer-Taschenfabrik) and jwa (Moritz Stecher).
