ordnance tan/yellow paint for lafette - UK

    Hi,
I have aquired a lafette tripod which has been painted an incorrect post-war colour. I wish to return it to it's original colour of ordnance tan/yellow and wonder if anyone knows of a similar colour (any type of paint except gloss will do) paint that I can get from a DIY in the UK. I'm also after a pair of leather carrying straps - aged repros will suffice.

    Thanks,

    John

PS What is the average price of one of these (less the scope)

    Paint

    Hi,

I went and had paint mixed for me thats the correct shade for ord. tan, I had a mint batt. container that had not seen the light of day until I un-wrapped it. I took it to a "Good" paint store and had them mix me a quart and repainted my tripod, as it gets sun and time it takes on the color of field gear that has been used.

If you send me your address I will send you a sample that you can take to a store and have mixed.

    Happy to help!
    Robert

        Hi John

There exists numbers for certain coulours named "RAL Number". With that
number you can get the exact coulour in every paint store which can mix
        the colours.

Here is a link to the RAL numbers which where used by the germans in WWII
The discribtion is in german and english

        http://miniatures.de/html/ger/colour-ral-farben.html

You can use RAL 7028 Dunkelgelb:
Second standard colour developed for military use. Vehicle base colour, February 1943 until October 1944. Many shades and variations of this colour existed.

PS: Send some pics when you finished the restauration ....

        Hope i helped
