Help to Price Model 1922 browning

A customer of mine would like to figure out how much his pistol is worth. 1922 Browning Patent 7.65 MM. All matching serial Numbers with Third Reich Marks. Nice thing about this pistol is the holster (complete with extra Mag) Its hard to tell from the images but it looks like its says Uffz Kurt Kur?? over FU heteze . Holster is in great shape. I looked on gun broker they have one for 499 but no telling how long its been on that site un sold. Any info would be great. Thanks

      Hi Justin,

I can't tell how much blue remains on the gripstraps, but using the pics provided as a barometer, the entire pistol looks to be in excellent condition. Initial production of these saw a very high commercial quality polish and blue, then they slowly cut back over time. Black plastic grips were changed out to the walnut grips you see here. You can see numberous machining marks and so forth, but it's not as bad as they eventually became. Holster is nice too, perhaps rated as fine condition due to the scuffs throughout. Still holds a nice shape and leather still appears to be supple enough. I don't know what that marking is on the belt loop, though.

These pistols never seem to go for too much. My estimate would be around $750, give or take. Maybe a little more. I haven't seen complete rigs at auction for a while though, so some of the other guys may have more current estimates for you.

      Best of luck,

      J-

HK markings on the holster indicate Luftwaffe issue.

Jason, the "HK" markings indicates Krieghoff manufactured holster, not Luftwaffe issue. It certainly could be Luft issue, but I do not see any Luft proofs on it? (it could have some though?)

That being said, the Holster is lovely!

I love the Browning 1922, and this one is in great condition! Here's the bad part.... for some reason, not known to me, these never seem to command a decent price on the market. There just isn't the demand for them.

For reference, I sold a 1922 almost identical to this one (same condition, with 2 mags, and holster, all excellent condition), last year on the P38 forum for $450.
I would say at best you could get $500 for this just because of the "HK" marked holster, but not much more.
There just isn't collector demand for these.

          Matt

I agree with the above comments. I currently have around 1/2 dozen of these and have owned many more over the years. I'll sell you all you want for $500 a pop. The good new is since they're relatively inexpensive and well built I have no reservations about shooting them as long as they're in good condition.

Oh,thanks for clearing that up Matt, I thought Krieghoff supplied the Luft.

500 tops. I picked one up that was in better shape without a holster in the discount case at Cabelas for 325.
