P38 help

Keep in mind how dirt cheap and plentiful these were right after the war. From this late date it seems like a horrible crime, but it is somewhat equivalent to someone buying a cheap surplus SKS or Mosin 91/30 and sporterizing it. In 100 years, someone's probably going to be calling that a crime, too.

I've seen more nickled war trophy P.38's than I can count.

IMO I think that holster is good. But let see what other people will say.

I can't read the maker code but the holster looks real to me. The nearly cut through belt loop really hurts the value, maybe $200 IMO.

Holster is definately legit. I agree with Leon's price, about $200 for the holster.
As for the gun; because of the "alterations" made to it, it's only value would be as a shoot grade gun, so about $400 I'd say. Total-$600.

take it to a profesional shop. have the scroll work buffed off and re blued. will not change the value to much but, will look much better. a good shop owner will take pitty on you , & won't charge much. j.h

Bubba has a European cousin.

I would do what jh-ss44 suggested and have the scroll work buffed out and have the pistol reblued. It will always be a monkeyed with gun, but if it is reblued, at least it can be a halfway decent looking monkeyed with gun.
