        Mauser

        Register,

"Waffenfabrik Mauser" means "Arms Factory Mauser" - this is only the name of the maker. As one of the biggest weapons plants in the world during the first half of the 20th century, their production range from small caliber pistols up to machine guns and aircraft cannons!

Could you give more details about it? Pictures?

Now, if you allow me to do a educated guess, I think that it is a small (.25ACP or .32ACP) MAuser pistol Model 1910 or Model 1914. Probably made before or during WWI as the commercial name of the factory changed in 1922 to Mauser-Werke A.G. But, as I said, it is only a guess.

        Regards,

        Douglas

I looked it up, based on his description. It is actually a rifle, not the pistol type. I'm getting it for $250. He brought it back from WW2, but I don't think it was a battlefield find. I believe he bought it from someone before he went back.

Anyway, it has been in his house ever since then and is in mint condition.
I offered $250 and he accepted. I saw one going for $250 that was in cruddy shape and one of my gun shop buddies told me today that it's a steal for one
          in that condition.

I pick it up in a couple of days and I will post pics.

            Register,

It seems to be a very nice bargain! If I remember correctly if the gun bears the full name of the Mauser company, it was made BEFORE the war since all the 98k rifles made during the war only had the secret code (byf or svw for Mauser). In fact, this system began in mid-30s (1934, I think).

Check to see f there is an import mark or "Germany" word stamped in the gun. If so it can´t be a "bring back" but only a post war import.

            Good luck!

            Douglas.
