MG34 buttstock variants

Hello,
Just wanted to update
As the 98% of Spanish contract MG34s I have seen have plain bakelite buttstocks and are dated 1943, 'dot' produced, almost sure they were produced even later, I have modified the list. As the steel plate buttstock is apparently original and was found among a batch of Spanish contract MG34s I have dated it 1943 also. It would be helpfull if there was some more input about steel buttstocks, thanks
1- early in walnutt from 1936 to 1938
2- early bakelite with metal tips from 1938 to 1942
3- bakelite from 1939 to 1943
4- Steel about 1943
5- mid to late war in beech from 1942 to 1945
6- Bunker mount steel butts
Post war production (not including repros):
-Israeli "dot 1945" contract were with beech butt until 1948
-Norwegian 'whole' buttstocks.
-Russian capture 'pointed' buttstocksLast edited by me6_130; 02-23-2011, 05:12 AM.

Tom.
I agree but I would say it is much time consuming, taking into account that company Waffenmeister would have some replacement butts in his spare parts chest.
