    Help with k98 1940 "42" all matching

I am getting offered this rifle for 1500 which I think it is to much for this rifle in my opinion but I am not an expert. They said bore is fair-good. Everything matches. What is your guys opinion. What would be real price for this piece?

    Thank you

    regards Rajko

pretty salty. I would pass given the condition, but it still has value particularly if the stock is matching?? If matched and listed on an auction site it may bring 1200, IMO.

Stock does match, but the bore and surface rust hurts it. Because I am not buying it from auction house, the most I should give 800-1000?
                        Thank you for your input.

Well, as you know everyone is at a different spot financially, pyschologically and is at a different spot in the hobby of firearms. Rhetorically, ask yourself why do you want this rifle? Cheaper matched, gift, shooter, investment, matched rifles are hard to find in your area, trying to help a widow, you have a consectutive number, etc...

Knowing why you want it also helps dictate what you are willing to pay.

                            Ok,
I am getting this rifle offered from a dealer. He heard that I collect German so he called me about this rifle. I wanted to buy myself matched rifle, and this is first one that I saw in my area. But at the same time I do not feel paying full premium price for that rifle.
                            Thank you

Again, it was a rhetorical question for you to ponder.... no answer really necessary for me...

Personally, I would excercise patience. A dealer, most likely will only discount 10% or tell him you're interested, asnd ask for his lowest cash price and see what he says.

I'm guessing an offer of 1K is not going to be successful if he has 1.5 on the rifle, but never hurts to try...
