    P08 brass bottom magazine

    Hello,
a question for the P08 experts, I saw a 1917 P08 all matching number with a brass bottom magazine instead of the common wood one.
I never saw that before and did some of you know that?
    Thanks

    Sounds like someone's shop project.

Agree with Johnny. Have never seen that, and would stay away from the magazine, at least. But if the guy's claiming it's genuine I would inspect the balance of the pistol with a vigilant eye.

Thinking about this logically brass makes no sense for a mag. bottom. Wood, then aluminum and bakelite are relatively light compared to brass and add no needless weight to the pistol.

I agree that it doesn't have any sense to do such a job, but it could be an unit job. It is absolutely not new.

The brass bottom doesn't fit correctly, and the retaining pin is slightly off the original hole. Not something easily made on the unit level, so still contend it was someone playing around with a piece of brass.

listen to Mr. Peppers; it's a totally modern made up replacement and does not even appear to be brass. The Imperial German army and the later Reichswehr had millions of magazines at their disposal and no reason to create such a thing.
