    Question regarding Walther pistol

I have a Soldbuch with a Walther pistol cal. 7,65mm and Nr. 329990 listed.
Is it possible to determine the specific type of Walther pistol (e.g. PP or PPK) from this informtion?

Jan Still's tome on Axis Pistols has a bounty of information and you may be able to narrow it down based on serial number ranges noted. It's tough to find, though, and expensive. But worth it to any Axis firearm collector.

      Lambert,

The PP serial range would put it about 1944

For PPK serial range it would be 1941

What is the date entry in your Soldbuch? I think that would give you a good idea on Model.

Thanks for your replies! The entry is from the 1. November 1944.
So it could be a Walther PP?

          There is no suffix?
PPK's serial numbers would have the "K" suffix. On the other hand, "P" would be the suffix for a PP model (after 1938 I think).

If the entry is from 1944 it could be both models. What is the Wehrmacht branch of the Soldbuch original owner? This could give us a clue.

He was a Captain in the Heer and served the whole WW2 with the Wehrbezirkskommando Berlin.
The entry for the pistol was signed by an officer from the Wachregiment Großdeutschland.
Maybe he bought the pistole from this unit??
            Unfortunately there´s no suffix.

Clerical errors such as on your document were not unusual. Unfortunately without more to go on it makes it difficult to confirm whether this gun was PP or PPK. The suffix was even omitted by clerical error on index cards for the issue of PP/PPKs by the SS/RSHA on occasion.
