    K98 need serious help and fast!



    SOMEONE WANTS TO SELL ME A K98 RIFLE. SOUNDS GOOD BUT ONE PROBLEM. ALL K98 PARTS ARE ORIGINAL EXCEPT FOR THE STOCK. THE STOCK IS MADE BY : ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY : THE STOCK IS MADE OUT OF THE SAME MATERIAL AS AN M16. I HAVE NO IDEA IF THIS IS A REAL ONE OR A FAKE ONE. HE SAID IT HAS THE YEAR 1943 ON IT AND ALSO SAYS MAUSER. MAYBE ITS A REPRO OR WHAT? HOW MUCH WOULD A REAL STOCK COST FOR THIS WEAPON AND HOW MUCH WOULD IT BE TO SWAP THE ORIGINAL PARTS FROM THE FAKE? STOCK TO THE REAL STOCK? HOW MUCH WOULD BE A GOOD PRICE TO BUY IT AND BE SAFE? I NEED SERIOUS HELP SO I DONT GET BURNED AND CAN GET A REAL GUN PUT TOGETHER. THANKS FOR ANY INFO. THIS IS A PIC AND I KNOW ITS CRAPPY BUT THATS THE ONLY ONE FOR NOW.

    Maybe it is me but from this only picture the stock doesn't look like a Kar98k stock. I know that bakelite stock existed during ww2 and these are quite rare and controversial.
    If it is not a good stock buying a proper one would not be a problem, but get ready to spend about $200 for a good one although you can find them cheaper.
    As for the whole value of the rifle we would need more information as the markings and if the entire numbers of the parts match, etc...

      As you said the pic is crappy, but I don't see a rear sight. FWIW, I would pass on it regardless of the price unless it is so cheap you could part out the gun and still be ok.

      If you want a K98, wait until a nice one comes along, they are not that hard to find. Bolt mis-match rifles are plentiful and not that expensive if you are patient. The Russian capture rifles are not for me, but at least they are all original and have a history all their own that is interesting. You would do a lot better to get one of those than the one in the photo.

        As the others have said, pass on that one. About the only thing you would be getting is a barreled receiver which would leave you looking for a bunch of parts. Nothing on the rife would match.

          id say no. i did once pick up a 41 BCD for $120. but it had nice blue, an original sling and was placed in a respectable sporter stock. But thats just me. partly because those ATI "no drill and tap mounts" are nicely machined parts that simply won't get a proper zero with a scope.

            Unless you want a project, I'd pass on this one. If it is $150 or less, it is worth it for the parts, but other then that.....

              i have a very nice waffenamt marked stock for K98 ( laying in my garage.. can get it cheap )

              will get some pics of it when i dig it out..its in very good condition

                  Stocks go for around $200 to install the pieces into the new stock takes about 20 mins,,,,,
