    Mg Lafette

    Hello,

Has anyone seen this code 'btm' on a lafette before? What are your opinions on thi mg lafette?

    Thanks

    Hello mighty,

Yes! I had a 'btm 41' lafette34 some years ago. The one you are asking about looks like an original Lafette42 to me. The only 'bad' point would be the state of the paint, but that is evident. It seems to have an original overhead fire table, the spare bolt case looks like for an MG42 bolt. The takedown latch (later kind) and the aluminium optical sight mount would sound correct for a lafette produced in 1943.

      MG42 Lafette.

Hi,only going on the small pics it looks like it could be an actual MG42 lafette and not one of the converted MG34 lafettes and compared to some of the sky high prices being asked recently for these items not to bad a price!Regards David.

          I'm with you C!
Also note the steel wingnuts on the legs, used from 43 and onwards.
The paintwork and all over shabby look would indicate that the leather pads MIGHT demand an inspection. There is also another point of interest that baffles me: with so many pictures, why is there no close up of the markings on the T&E? Those markings would normally be a big pluss during advertising....
And there is also something strange in the last picture; the left side of the T&E appears to be spray painted black with some gunk.....beats me!?
But all in all a very interesting and rare bird (compared to all the yugo and remodeled MG34 Lafettes that are out there...)
