    Mauser 98 stamp question

    Hi Guys.
    I wonder if this is a L4 Luftwaffe Waffen Amt, and I wonder why there is no producer stamp, could it have been removed ? Only stamp is on the barrel: cxm 259 40 bys. Can you make something of this ?
    Regards

    Looks like a LW acceptance stamp to me...the long marking on the barrel indicates the manufacturer of the barrel itself and year of production 1940
    bys = Ruhrstahl AG, Guss-stahlwerk, Witten - one of many sub-contractors involved in the manufacture of weapons parts.
    cxm = Gustav Genschow & Co., Bouchéstr., 12, Berlin SO 36 : (K98k barrels)
    Seems that two subcontractors were involved in the making of the barrel
    As for the lack of main stamps on the chamber I have no idea at all but would love to see more pictures of the rifle

      Thanks to FestungSpain for the info.
      What about the missing manufacture on the chamber, I would like some help here.
