    Blank side PPK? WARTIME??

    Hi,

Did they make a PPK with out a WALTHER on the side?

I was offered this but all it has is the Eagle N and this serial number 337143k

The left side of the pistol is blank?? All the right side has is the eagle N on the barrel and frame?

Is this in the war time serial number range?

    thanks for any info... J

It may just be the quality of the photo, but it appears to be refinished and pretty heavily buffed. Notice how the grasping grooves appear to have been partially removed. I don't know much about Walther markings, but a buffing that heavy would have removed any markings. You may need to post a higher quality photo to get a better answer.

Not unusual for wartime. There are more than a few out there like yours.

Production is about mid 1941. Picture of left side is too bad to tell much about it.

Very bad photo of the PPk. Looks to be photo shopped. In the first pic, the grips look black, but in the last pice (with the other guns and bayonet), the grips are clearly brown.

There should be Walther markings on the left side of the slide. Also there should be a matching ser number on the right side of the slide. It was made in 1941 and the war was not going bad yet and most of the non marked slides do not show until late into the war. From the little amount of usable pictures to me it looks to be a replacement slide or reworked at some other time. Does not look original to the gun and time it was made.

Im betting that that second pic is blown up from that grouping and color has been messed with for some reason. It's Kinda lazy to just go in Photoshop and Expand the image. Ask him to take another picture of it close up. If he cant for some reason Id back away. He might not even have the gun; because it seems like a lot of work to blow up that picture in Photoshop rather than just take a new one.

I don't think it is a blown up version of the grouping. You can clearly see the ends of the gun case in the first photo. In the grouping the PPk is placed higher (away from the ends) inside the rifle case.
Either way though, it's definately an enhanced photo, and I agree with Jerry, that the slide isn't right.

Sorry Guys about the "silver" pic.. I tried to get the detail out of the pic but then saved it in some funky way?? I have no clue how to get back to the original...

It is blued like in the group picture.

Someone posted that this serial number is in 1941 but it has no "walther on the left side..

Ive never seen one with out it.. Make rarer... or dont bother pursing the seller?

What ballpark would a 41 series PPK with nothing on the slide ballpark at?

                        thanks J

I wish I could.. Like a big dummy I copied over the original pic trying to enhance it.

the guy wanted 400 for it but without the WALTHER on the side I passed...

Get better pictures for that price. @$750+ I would pass but $400 is not that bad of a price it is worth a shooter. the grips sell for $250-350 if in good condition and the mag may go for $80 if WWII.
