    Featured .45

I was recently contacted about furnishing pictures of this pistol for an upcoming article about foreign made 1911 style .45 pistols. I have a few nice pistols that I would have been much happier showing, but this was what they wanted. It is a jungle made VC copy of the 1911A1 pistol made of sheet metal formed and brazed together. The barrel, which is not rifled, nor slide have any locking lugs, and it appears the safety became too complicated and the maker gave up. The grips are made from buffalo horn, and have a few bug holes. It does appear to have been fired, as the front of the receiver is split. It was bought at a local pawn shop just a few years after the Vietnam war.

Maybe this was where it was seen, and someone remembered it. The person that contacted me is doing it for the Shotgun News.

I believe there was one of these pictured in Guns & Ammo several years ago with the soldier who brought it back from Nam. It apparentely had been shot and the slide was actually swaybacked as a result. If memory served me correctly it was essentially a straight blowback with no toggle link or barrel lockup at all.

Very neat little .45, i know that the vc had many homemade weapons and is interesting that they would really go into detail to make this .45, Thanks for posting

That's it as far as copies. Had a chance to buy one of the Korean made copies several years back, and wish I had now.

Johnny - please show the board that the VC .45 came mounted on by the U.S. vet; I think the vet's unit infomation will be of interest to everyone.

Can't lay my hands on the board the pistol was mounted on, but this was also on the board.

I knew a nam vet who was a small arms repairman for the big red one, and he had one of the VC made .45's . I recall when he sold it back in the 70s, and i believe he sold it for a few hundred dollars at the time...he was from chambersburg pa.
