    Ground dug Doppeltrommel - manufacturer??

    Hi from a newbi

first post on this forum, but cetainly not the first time I have reviewed the informative posts!

I am hoping some one out their can help in identifying the manufacturer for this ground-recovered doppeltrommel. It was recovered in Normany, still with 55 rounds on board. Most of the markings have long gone, including the date stamp. There is however a faint trace of what I think is the manufacturers mark, which looks like (S)TAR, though you will see from the photos that it is very indistinct.

Can anyone help with this as I can find no reference to this name or code on the net.

    thanks

    Hello Harry,

I'm sorry, I've seen quite some saddle drums and I haven't seen any STAR maker. Can you try to find a WaA or any other codes and date? The main maker's I know are HASAG (wa) with WaA 84, and BSW with WaA 4.

I know there was spanish weapon producer called STAR, but I doubt they made saddle drums for the germans...

Tell him there is a chance for bullets with a fosfor filling (PmK round) or an explosive filling. (B-patrone)

Nah, just don't take a nail and a hammer.
If you still throw it against a wall, nothing will happen..

I once had to deal with the recovery of a pilot in his Messerschmitt Bf 109. I was told there was no ammo to be found...but we counted about 1000 7,92mm rounds but no MG17...and 1 MGFF but no round for it The pilot was properly buried by the Air Force.
