Hi guys!
As I've mentioned I'm a newby P-08 collector. This is my other recent pickup, a holstered 1939 model S/42. All matching except mag of course, 95% blue and a 1939 dated holster with take down tool. From my research one of the last S/42's built.
Again, I know it's a rather common P-08, but I have to start somewhere!
Appreciate your thoughts & opinions!
Thanks!

Quite possibly the most recognizeable and desireable handgun on the planet. Yours is a particularily handsome one. I hope you get the maximum enjoyment from it by occsionally firing it. Since you have 4, you probably know not to store it in it's holster. Congrats!

Thanks Lon!! I read (collected 23 P-08 books, Still, Danzig etc.), researched & watched a couple of forums for 3 or 4 months before I started to collect them. I keep the P-08's and others in a felt covered wooden gun rack to protect them from additional holster wear.
Thanks for the great advice!!

A few years back on one of the Luger forums a member posted his shooting experiences with his DWM LP.08. He was really enjoying it up to the point where the breech block cracked, and then the fun was over. Anything mechanical can break, so weigh all the possibilities before shooting a prized pistol when there are so many shooter grades out there.

Thanks Johnny! In all of reading & chatting with those who know far them me, I will not be shooting any of my collectables! I have my grandfathers 1920 Commercial P-08 & will probably pick up a very nice 9mm "shooter" at some point as I have only shot the Luger .30 & not a P-08 9mm yet!
Appreciate the great advice!

It seems you did everything correctly: bought the books, exchanged information on forums and, just ater that, went for collecting. Good to see this kind of behaviour!
Well, you got another keeper: a great rig for sure. Unfortunately, the Lugerbug has no known cure. Good luck!
Now, take Johnny's words to the heart: do not fire a collectable piece. You can ruin a piece of history and, in addition, have great money loss.
Doug is giving you good advice.... I wouldn't dream of shooting any of my collector pieces... There are plenty of "shooters" if you just must.... I'll bet that you have already found that shooting the .30 Luger is going to get a little pricey. IF you can find the ammo... DON'T throw away the brass !! Time to take up reloading !!

The probability of being watched is directly proportional to the stupidity of your act.
Thanks Douglas & Ronnie...I really mean it!
Such great advise for a TR handgun & Luger newby!!!
If OK, I'll post my Black Widow soon & a couple of questionalable accessories I could use help with.
From what I've learned, only 90% + blue, all matching and I will never never shoot them.
I will look ND WANT an acceptable & very nice 9mm shooter!
Found a bunch of .30 Luger & great fun, need to shoot a 9mm though!
Thanks again guys for all the wonderful & great advice...you're the best!
