    Another great decision by those running things in US now, makes no sense as usual.

    I think that it is a good decision, because there are already enough crimes committed with M1 Garand and Carbines that we don't need anymore! *ends sarcasm* This is absolutely retarded, and I really hope the South Koreans won't destroy them! They are probably all pretty much trashed, but they would provide an excellent source for cheap shooters. Hopefully they (the South Koreans) will hang onto them for now, and maybe we can work out a deal with them after this regime, er I mean, "administration" is voted out.

      My understanding is that these have been in storage since the 50s so hopefully there are some nice examples. However; We're probably going to have to wait at least two more years to find out. I have a colleague with connections in the Korean Government who is trying to arrange to look at them.
      There's two issues that I'm aware of regarding importation for sale to collectors:
      The disposition of the current powers here.
      The fact that these are probably Lend Lease guns

        Aren't the M1 Rifles some of the "Canned" rifles that were reworked and sealed following WWII? If so, they could be some nice rifles.

              Did you expect anything less? I never got my hopes up. Wait till Palin gets in there, they will get here eventually.

              What Im concerned about is the POTUS letting them get our tax dollars to destroy the rifles.

                      Very sad to hear this story... the usual stupid political language which doesn't respect historical rifles ... I'm curios to know how many crimes/year are committed with a M1 Garand.
