Just picked one up a couple of weeks ago. Wondering what could be gleaned from the flare gun. Marked Apr 43 in a semi circle. Has PT samped on one part and a 5 digit serial number on the other. Also has a chain and some sort of flattened retaining ring with it. Does that give you any info to help me with? PM me with your Email and Ill send photos.

There are a number of different models, It sounds like yours is a typical WWII model 52, Brass frame and steel barrel in 37mm.

April 43 is the month and year of manufacture, and PT is a military proof or stamp indicating a military accepted flare pistol, but note many USA military used flare pistols do not have PT or other military stamps such as most Sedgleys.

Not sure what the chain and ring are. Need a photo to tell that.
