I am nearly 100% sure that the trigger-guard was re-numbered. The bolt serial stamping looks different from other byf44 bolts that I have seen (for one thing, there are no milling marks), and it leaves me with a bad feeling as well.

The serial number on the trigger guard has been pantographed. The serial number on the floorplate of my byf44 is stamped. Also, even though mine is a five digit serial number, the bolt only has the last four digits with suffix.

Nice Byf CVM. I have a BNZ it was a gift from my family. Sadly it came from Mitchells Mausers. :/

Way down in the southern part of the state, not too far north of the Louisiana line.

This is the floorplate from another BYF that I sold the past month with a non matching bolt. 2 letters on the floorplate.

One and less they are maybe 5 000 000 and more K98 produced so we can know all about it. And 70 years later???

Too bad the triggerguard/floorplate and bolt appear to be bad/incorrect. For a 1944 "g" suffix byf the triggerguard should be unnumbered, the floorplate should have all the numbers going lengthwise and the bolt should only have the last four ditits and the suffix.
