    MG42 Lafette Value?

Prices seem a little deflated with the new Sarco Yugo imports of MG42 Lafettes, so I'm not quite sure how to price the current market. I have a friend who is offering me an original German FSU manufactured Lafette...I don't have pictures, but apparently it has not been postwar repainted, there is the one layer of paint over the red oxide primer. No bolt box, no range/data plate on the back. Would 900$ be reasonable for an original German (not yugo) Lafette as described? Thanks, Chris..

Pics are definitely needed Chris; the description is too vague

      Lafette

Unfortunately my friend who has the tripod isn't up with modern technology, so no way to get photos. I'm also up in Alaska, and he's in Colorado... I'm guessing that being an FSU tripod with German markings it would be worth at least 800$, it was acquired out of Germany in the late 90's, the paint sounds original from his description, but pictures are worth a 1000 words I know.... Thanks, chris....

Sounds like a fair price. BUT watch out, as paint is not the only proof for postwar use by yugosl. armee, they also added some kind "puller" that the germans never had added.

Hi, $900 sounds like a good price to me , at least compared to prices over here in GB, at the recent Beltring show some horrible looking Yugo examples were selling for £650 to over £2,000. I bought my 42 lafette over ten years ago when they were about £500 pounds and they were nice examples. You might want to ask your friend if its a straight example or a converted 34 lafette. Regards david.
